CASPER, Wyo. — Authorities are asking the public to avoid Lakeshore Drive and the Alcova Marina as they continue to investigate an early morning Fourth of July fire.
Between 6 and 7 a.m., flames were seen shooting into the still-gray sky. At 6 a.m., the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement asking that the public avoid the Marina as deputies and fire-EMS crews were on scene.
“If you have plans for the Lake today, please arrange to avoid the area of the Marina to allow first responders to work,” the post stated.
At 7:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office announced the fire was contained and there was no ongoing threat to the area. No other structures were involved, the post said.
“There will be continued fire personnel and law enforcement presence in the area today. Lakeshore Drive is currently still blocked at the Marina entrance. Please continue to avoid the area if at all possible. We appreciate your cooperation,” the post stated.
The Natrona County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Natrona County Fire District to investigate the cause of the fire.
More information will be released when it becomes available.
