CASPER, Wyo. — The staff and students of Fort Caspar Academy elementary school gathered in their gym on Thursday to honor invited veterans of the U.S. Military for Veterans Day.

The annual celebration included short videos explaining the history of Veterans Day and various patriotic songs sung by the student body.

Veteran guests were given flowers towards the end to thank them for their service.

“It was hard not to cry,” said Brandi Ray, who attended the ceremony with her husband Sam and his 89-year-old grandfather, Navy veteran Robert Behage.

Fort Caspar Academy was one of several Natrona County schools that honored veterans on Thursday with events ranging from coffee and donuts before class to full programs performed by students.
