The Casper College District Board is seeking applications from interested residents, within the district’s boundaries, to serve as an appointed member of the board of trustees. The appointed person will fill the position until the scheduled election in 2018.
The deadline for submitting an application is 5 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2017.
Board member Matthew Loucks submitted his resignation as a member of the Casper College District Board of Trustees, effective June 21, 2017. Louck’s resignation was prompted by his anticipated move to a residence outside of the district boundaries. Wyoming law requires that district governing board members reside and be registered voters in the districts they serve. The appointed replacement position on the board of trustees will be an interim position, which means the person appointed will serve until the next election in 2018 at which time they may choose to run for election to fulfill the remainder of Louck’s term for two years.
Loucks was elected to the Casper College District Board in 2012 and served as treasurer and chairman of the board of trustees. Casper College President Darren Divine said, “Trustee Loucks provided a valuable service to the college and community with his work on the Board of Trustees. We wish him well and appreciate all that he has accomplished.”
Candidates must be 18 years of age or older, citizens of Wyoming, and residents and registered voters in Natrona County.
The board of trustees will make an appointment to fill the vacancy in an open session at their regular meeting on Tuesday, July 18, 2017. At that time, candidates who have submitted completed applications and meet eligibility criteria will be interviewed by board members.
