One person is dead after a car collided with a semi-tractor trailer on Tuesday morning near Powell.
The accident happened on US 14A/WY 114 before 7:00 a.m., according to a WyDot accident report.
According to the report, a truck hauling sugar beets heading east on US 14A had stopped and prepared to turn south when twenty-year-old Ray Carpenter, driving a Mazda pickup, approached at a “fast closing rate.”

The Mazda hit the sugar beet truck in the dual wheels on the driver side just before the right turn lane.
The sugar beet truck rolled onto its roof after the impact.
Carpenter, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was killed. The driver of the sugar beet truck was uninjured. Driver inattention is the possible cause of the accident.
The crash is still under investigation.
