NCSO warns of “training” money

The Natrona County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to be on the lookout for “training” money.

Sheriff’s officials say that there is no current case being investigated, where the bills were attempted to be passed as currency. However, they say that problems have existed historically, and that a number of bills have been found in the Natrona County area.

The training bills lack a distinctive feel of US currency, and have Mandarin Chinese characters on them.

An NCSO spokesperson says that the “training” bills are often used by people unfamiliar with US currency, who plan on travelling in the country, for practice purposes. The training bills are said to also contain invalid serial numbers.

Officials say the “training” bills are commercially available for purchase.
