The arrest comes after a report of a child abduction on July 3rd. According to police, the Public Safety Communications Center received a 911 call at 10:52 am with a child reported abducted near the intersection of Southwest Wyoming Boulevard and South Coffman Avenue in Casper.
“Casper Police Officers immediately responded to the location,” the police department added. “Once on scene, they discovered the child was safe and had returned to the area.”
Because the child was found safe when officers responded to the call, police officials say an Amber Alert was not sent out.
“The investigation has revealed that at approximately 10:35 am the child was playing outside when an unknown male suspect abducted and left the area with the child,” the CPD said. “The child was returned near the location of the abduction a short time later.”
Officials said they were not releasing the suspect’s name at this time because he is being charged with felony second degree assault of a minor.
No other information on the circumstances have been released.
