American flags waved gently, and photos of soldiers lined the sidewalk. Laces are tied, and water bottles filled as participants meet at the starting line. Runners of all ages gathered at City Park on the warm Tuesday morning to honor Wyoming’s fallen soldiers.

The annual race, held before the start of the parade, raises money to fund community college scholarships around Wyoming in honor of each soldier.

A 1K Kids Fun Run kicked off the morning, followed by a ceremony to honor the soldiers before the full 5K began. The race ran along this year’s parade route, starting and ending at City Park.
