This past weekend, the High Plains Select soccer club laced up their cleats to represent Wyoming in the National Championships held in Denver, Colorado. This tournament marked the first time a Wyoming team had ever won a regional event and made it to Nationals.

The U17 girls team went 2-1-1 in this weekend’s tournament to finish 3rd overall in the nation.

The team beat teams from Tennessee and Alabama and tied Massachusetts. They lost only to Texas in overtime in the semifinals with a score of 2-1.

The U16 team went 0-2-1, losing to Massachusetts and California with a tie against Texas.

“It was an amazing event competing against the best soccer teams in the nation,” coach Jason Redmond said Tuesday afternoon. “We had already made history and continued to make history all the way till the end!”
