CASPER, Wyo. — Officials are confirming a vehicle crash, near the Casper Events Center, involved a city of Casper vehicle and resulted in a fatality.
“Please avoid the area of Poplar and Events Drive in Casper,” Casper Police Department officials said at approximately 3:45 pm, July 23, 2020. “First responding agencies are on the scene of a fatal car accident.”
Police report that shortly after 2:00 pm today, Casper Police Officers responded to an accident at North Poplar Street and Events Drive in Casper. A civilian vehicle traveling south on Poplar is believed to have run a stop sign at Events Drive and collided into a City of Casper waste truck traveling east on Events Drive.

“The driver of the civilian vehicle was ejected from the vehicle. Upon arrival at the scene, medical personnel immediately transported the driver to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries,” said CPD.
The driver of the City vehicle is believed to have been wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the civilian vehicle is not believed to have been wearing a seatbelt.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol is the leading investigative agency on this crash and it remains under investigation at this time.
