CASPER, Wyo. — A wildfire near Poison Spider Road has been 100% contained at about 186 acres in size, according to Natrona County Fire District Chief Brian Oliver.
“100% contained,” Oliver said in an update around 9:15 pm Wednesday, Aug. 3. “Crews held the fire at 186 acres.” He added that further information would become available Thursday.
Fire crews on the ground and in the air had established an estimated 70% containment of the wildfire by around 7:15. Oliver said in his initial 6:10 pm update that the fire had burned an estimated 100 acres near Poison Spider Road, Zero Road and 12 Mile Road. Winds had initially led to growth of the fire before crews established containment.

Oliver had estimated the fire as 0% contained at about 6:10 pm Monday, Aug. 3. By about 7:15 pm, Oliver provided the following update: “Fire is knocked down, we are [at] about 70% containment.”
Multiple agencies responded to the wildfire which the Bureau of Land Management Wyoming referred to as the “Poison Spider 2” wildfire.
Air resources including Helitack crews and two State of Wyoming Single Engine Air tankers responding, according to NCFD and BLM Wyoming.
“It’s moving pretty good right now,” Oliver said at 6:10 pm.
Oliver added that no structures were thought to be immediately threatened by the wildfire, but that structural assessments were underway.
Oliver said that air resources, including a large air tanker, were responding to the fire.

Oliver added that no determination of cause has been made but that the fire was most likely started by lightning.
