CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Officers with the Cheyenne Police Department (CPD) assisted Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers (WHP) in pursuit of a stolen vehicle this afternoon.
According to a the CPD, the pursuit began on I-25 southbound on the north edge of Cheyenne.
During the pursuit, it is alleged that the driver tossed a firearm out of the vehicle, which was immediately recovered by a Laramie County Sheriff’s Department Deputy and CPD Officer.

“When the pursuit left the interstate onto Missile Drive in the area of W. 24th St., CPD Officers took over the pursuit. WHP Troopers rejoined and took over leading the pursuit in approximately the 3400 block of South Greeley Highway as it continued southbound towards Colorado,” officials with the CPD reported.
Authorities say that WHP Troopers were able to get the vehicle stopped near mile marker 2 on US85 (South Greeley Hwy.) where the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
Further investigation determined there was an active nationwide arrest warrant for the driver, law enforcement officials added.
According to authorities, the Wyoming Highway Patrol was the lead agency in this incident and also the charging agency for offenses committed by the driver.
“This incident demonstrates the teamwork required by all law enforcement agencies in keeping our communities and state safe,” the CPD stated.
