CASPER, Wyo. — Another winter storm system is expected to move into Wyoming starting Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service in Riverton.

“Ready for Spring?” the NWS in Riverton asked. “Well, don’t start planting your gardens and putting out your lawn furniture quite yet.”

Near record cold temperatures, more snow east of the Continental Divide and strong winds are expected Monday as the cold front moves in Sunday night.

Temperatures Monday are expected to be 20-30 degrees below normal for this time of year. While strong north winds are expected to diminish Tuesday, snow showers and near record cold temperatures are again expected, according to the NWS in Riverton.

The Bighorn basin and northern Johnson County are expected to see the strongest impacts from the cold front.

Before the cold front moves in Sunday, some areas could see some more snow on Friday into the afternoon. 3-5 inches are expected by noon Friday in the Bighorn Mountains.

The southeast could see some snow squalls into the afternoon Friday, according to the NWS in Cheyenne.

Saturday and Sunday during the day are expected to be warmer but still below normal temperatures for mid-April, according to the NWS in Riverton.
