CASPER, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Corrections announced on Friday that in the past week, a total of 12 inmates and correctional staff have tested positive for COVID-19.
10 staff tested positive at the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins along with one inmate. One inmate at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington also tested positive for COVID.
Three inmates have died after contracting COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
“Working with the Wyoming Department of Health, all positive inmate cases are medically monitored and managed by the Department and our health care provider (Corizon Health, Inc.) in accordance with CDC guidelines,” the WDOC says. “The Department continues to conduct rigorous surveillance testing at all sites as necessary and will provide additional information as it becomes available.”
