Closures remain on I-80 with multiple slide-offs and crashes; I-25 closure for winter conditions may lift Sunday afternoon

CASPER, Wyo. — Closures due to winter conditions have lifted on eastern parts of Interstate 80 Sunday morning, but a rolling closure took effect at 9:00 a.m. from Rawlins to Evanston. Multiple slideoffs and crashes are also reported, according to District 1 of the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT). The estimated re-opening time is unknown.

Interstate 80 has opened to all but light, high-profile traffic from Cheyenne to Rawlins. I-80 and WY 258 between Laramie and Walcott Junction are are closed to wind-prone traffic.

I-25 is closed between Cheyenne and Douglas due to winter conditions and high winds. At 9:00 a.m. Sunday, WYDOT estimated that I-25 would reopen in 5 to 7 hours.

No unnecessary travel and closures to light, high-profile vehicles are advised on I-25 from Douglas to Casper due to extreme blow over risk.

High wind warnings are in effect in northern, central, and southeast Wyoming until 5:00 p.m. Sunday. Gusts up to 85 mph are expected along Interstate 25 between Chugwater and Wheatland and on I-80 between Arlington and Elk Mountain.

WY 59 between Douglas and Gillette is closed due to winter conditions, estimated to reopen between 12:30 p.m. an 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
