Casper Holiday Traditions: Making the most of the Christmas Season

(Dan Cepeda, Oil City)

It’s time to spread some Christmas cheer! What are your holiday traditions? I’ve gathered a few of the most famous and made a list of things you must do this Christmas season.

Do you have different traditions? Maybe they are better or more fun! Feel free to share those with Oil City News! We’d love to hear about them.

Christmas Cookies!

Every year my family and friends get together and make over twelve batches of cookies. We spend all day rolling them out, baking them, and then decorating them. Last year we ended up making over 2,000 cookies… Maybe more, though I ate a few before we could count. But the fun doesn’t stop there: we also package them up and give them to our other extended friends and family that couldn’t make the cookies with us. It is a great opportunity to spend time together. Do you have a crazy fun tradition like this?

Christmas Lights!

Everyone loves driving around at Christmas time to see the Christmas lights. Oil City is no different! That’s why we created the TwinkleMap, a map put together by the citizens of Casper that features some of the best Christmas lights in town! You can submit your house — or your neighbor’s house — to our website at https://oilcity.news/christmas-lights/. If you still have a place to submit, you should send it in before the 23rd, when we’ll announce the winners of the 2021 TwinkleMap!

Christmas Movie Marathon

Nothing is better than curling up by the fire with your friends and family and watching a Christmas movie or two. It’s the perfect way to keep the movies alive and the traditions fresh! My family always watches A Christmas Carol, if you are looking for a suggestion!

Outdoor activities!

Snowmen, skiing, and ice skating! The joy of living in Wyoming is that we have all the best opportunities to get outside. Make sure you dress warm, but don’t forget to build yourself a snowman this Christmas! My personal favorite outdoor activity, though, is going ice skating at David Street Station. Are you going to join me??
