CASPER, Wyo. — It might not yet be December, but that didn’t stop several people from getting into the holiday spirit Sunday evening. People enjoyed hot cocoa, cookies and Christmas music, and children made sure to tell Santa what they want for Christmas at the annual tree lighting at Healing Park at Conwell.
Before the trees were illuminated in festive colors, Casper Mayor Ray Pacheco kicked things off with words of encouragement for those gathered at the park.
“Our community is a beautiful community,” he said. “There is one message when we go into the holiday season, and that message should be of hope, love and understanding — that we are all different, and that we have differing opinions. But I hope that at this time of year we can come together as one to understand that while we may be different and have different opinions, that we can see the goodness in one another.”
