CASPER, Wyo. — In consent agenda action June 6, the Casper City Council approved updating a fee schedule that’s remained unchanged since the 1990s.

The fees are associated with administering utility billing services and water metering activities for the City of Casper Public Services Department, Public Utilities Division.

Councilors determined at a May 24 work session that an increase in customer service fees is necessary to recover actual costs associated with administering utility billing and water metering activities.

The new utility billing and water metering fee schedule effective July 1 is below:

In other consent agenda action June 6, the Casper City Council authorized:

  • Amending a regional response grant award agreement with the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security to extend the grant deadline through Aug. 31, allowing for equipment delivery before the grant expires. The original $104,000 grant approved in June 2020 was to buy a prime mover truck with a 14-foot flatbed. When the project was deemed unfeasible, the grant was changed to buy 10 hazmat air packs, one-hour bottles and accessories.
  • Buying a $158,063 SeaQuest corrosion inhibitor from Aqua Smart. The part for the water treatment plant helps prevent pipes and fixtures from leaching heavy metals into the city water supply.
  • A partial refund of $225 for a Parkway Parking Permit issued at 1140 S. Center St. The property owner was the only person to apply for a permit at the initial $250 rate in March 2022 before the council shortly afterward reduced the annual fee to $25.
