Summary:
The NASM-Accredited Music Department is seeking a well-qualified guitar instructor.  In 2013, the department moved into a new state-of-the-art music facility, complete with acoustically designed studios, ensemble spaces, and concert hall.

Responsibilities:
Adjunct Faculty teaches applied lessons and guitar ensemble in the assigned instructional area, with additional teaching in area if interested, qualified, and needed. The position reports to the program director of the department of music. Basic responsibilities of Adjunct Faculty are to review and distribute course syllabi to each student, follow standard course design, arrange for the acquisition and preparation of appropriate materials and equipment necessary to meet course objectives, and basic reporting duties including grade reports, etc. The Adjunct Faculty member is evaluated by the department chair.

Essential Duties:
Teach courses in applied guitar
Teach guitar ensemble
Maintain accurate attendance records
Procure appropriate materials needed for course instruction
Reporting duties including student grade data
Evaluate students (including juries)

Work Environment:
Typical work environment is a classroom, office and/or studio/stage setting requiring normal safety precautions. Work is usually performed during the normal workday, however, occasional early morning, late evening, and weekend work may be required. Noise levels are minimal to moderate and include stage/studio performances with exposure to a moderate level of sound. Short periods of time will be spent outdoors travelling between campus buildings in various weather conditions.

Physical Demands:
Employee must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time, speak, hear, use hands and fingers to handle materials and use computer, feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds may be required. Less frequent lifting of more than 10 pounds may be required (moving large musical equipment).

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Guitar (performance and/or pedagogy)
Expertise in current guitar pedagogy
Appropriate performance experience

Desired Qualifications:
Experience teaching at the college level
Experience teaching both classical and jazz styles
