CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The battle for burger supremacy in Colorado is about to heat up as the popular chain Whataburger looks to open its first restaurant in Colorado in 2021.
Whataburger officials held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday at the site of its first Colorado establishment. The location at 1310 Interquest Parkway in northeast Colorado Springs is expected to open before the end of 2021.
The restaurant is reported to bring 100 jobs to the Colorado Springs community. Hiring for restaurant managers is in progress, and team leader and team member hiring will begin in September, said Whataburger.
Whataburger said additional Colorado locations are planned, including a Dublin Boulevard Colorado Springs location by the end of 2022.
The location of the Whatburger restaurant is just yards away from an In-N-Out Burger restaurant that opened late last year.
Along with new restaurants, BurgerWorks will bring exciting career opportunities for leaders in the community. Hiring in Colorado Springs will begin in the next few months for positions including Restaurant Manager and Operating Partner. In early fall, hiring will begin for team leaders and team members.
“A great Whataburger customer experience starts with exceptional employees, which is why our entry into Colorado Springs will begin with building a training center and recruiting caring leaders who can motivate and reward teams,” said William Tamminga, owner of BurgerWorks. “We compensate well and have a robust training program to teach the needed skills. Even without restaurant experience, leaders can succeed at our Whataburger restaurants with the right attitude and ability.”
Founded more than 70 years ago, Whataburger now has more than 850 locations across 10 states, operating 24/7, 364 days a year. Whataburger is best known for its signature, fresh-never-frozen beef burgers.
