CASPER, Wyo. — Strong gusting winds have led the Wyoming Department of Transportation to close Interstate 25 between Casper and Douglas in both directions for light, high-profile vehicles.
Light, high-profile vehicles include box trucks, campers, RVs and other trucks that could tip over due to strong winds.
The National Weather Service in Riverton’s forecast calls for wind gusts of nearly 40 mph throughout the day in Casper, and predicts the winds will only grow stronger at night, with windspeeds increasing to roughly 50 mph after sundown.
WYDOT did not give an estimate for when the road is expected to fully reopen.
