EVANSVILLE, Wyo. — Evansville Fire-EMS has announced in a Facebook post on Aug. 8 that it is sending three personnel and a truck to assist in fighting the Quartz Ridge Fire near Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
Firefighter Chris Nichols, Engineer Jeremiah Jones, Captain Corey Ramsey and the Brush 12 truck will make their way to the San Juan National Forest today to help contain the fire, according to the post.
So far, the Quartz Ridge Fire has raged without any interruption because of its location and behavior. Now, after three days of burning, The San Juan Interagency Type 3 Incident Management Team is taking charge in hopes of stifling the flames.
As of 7 a.m. on Aug. 8, the Quartz Ridge Fire is known to be 560 acres in size and is currently 0% contained, according to the post. The fire, first reported at 9:01 a.m. Aug. 5, was started by a lightning strike.
