Melinda Jean O’Donnell

Melinda Jean O’Donnell, 65, of Casper, Wyoming, died September 21, 2017. She was born on February 19, 1952 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to John and Elizabeth O’Donnell and later moved with her family to Rapid City, South Dakota. Melinda earned a degree in art and journalism from Black Hills State College and moved to Casper in 1980. She was a gifted artist and especially loved beadwork. Melinda was very active in the Celebrate Recovery Community where she facilitated groups, attended retreats, and made many friends. Melinda was blessed with 35 years, 9 months of sobriety and born again.

She is survived by sisters Roxanne (John) Jensen of Arcadia, Florida and Jennifer O’Donnell of Corbett, Oregon, and special friend Vern Miles of Casper, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life is pending.

Patricia F. Suranyi, 76, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017.  She was born on March 1, 1941 to Henry and Charlotte Gordon in Worland, Wyoming.  Patty graduated from Natrona County High School in 1958 and attended the University of Wyoming.  In 1959, Pat married Richard “Dick” Suranyi.  Dick’s job gave them the opportunity to travel around the world and live in different parts of the country with favorites including Amarillo, Texas, Casper, Wyoming, Jackson Hole, Wyoming and finally Denver, Colorado.

Patty worked it various jobs including coordinating fashion shows for the prestige Bergdorf Goodman in Amarillo, Texas, Customer Service Representative for Dish Network and was an avid volunteer for National Jewish Hospital.  Patty enjoyed entertaining and hosting friends and family, but she truly loved raising her three children and being an amazing grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandson.

She is preceded in her death by her parents, Henry and Charlotte Gordon, her husband Richard, her daughter Deborah Tucker and her grandson, Kyle Remilong.  She is survived by her brother, Jerry Gordon (Carol); her son John Suranyi (Courtney) and his children, Logan and Morgan; and her daughter, Jill Suranyi, and her daughter Allison Knigge (Tyler) and her son Jayce.

Services will be held at Cherry Hills Community Church on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 10:00am.  In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to The Denver Hospice, 501 S. Kevin Emerson Bock, 55, passed away at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper on September 22, 2017. He was born April 2, 1962 in Burbank, California to Alanna Joy (Johnson) and Robert Bock.

He is survived by his daughter, Brianna Spurlin-Bock, of Casper.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Bock and Alanna Joy Jaqua; and his daughter, Jasmine Spurlin-Bock.

Services are pending at this time.

Carol Joan Johnson, 78, passed away on September 18, 2017 in Casper, Wyoming.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23 at Bustard’s Funeral Home in Casper with Father Hugo L. Blotsky, O.S.B. officiating.

Carol was born, May 18, 1939 to Troy Gordon & Mildred Eileen (Swisher) Wilkerson at Flagler, CO.   She was raised and educated at Kit Carson Public School in Colorado.

She married George A. Johnson at Brighton, CO, September 7, 1960.   George died October 12, 2014.

Her first job was at Sears Roebuck in Denver.  When she and her husband started the Johnson Roofing Company, she was the bookkeeper and office manager for about 20 years.   The roofing jobs took the family to 38 states from 1969 to 1976.

She was a member of Good Sam’s RV Club, Eagles, and VFW Auxiliary.

Carol’s Christian faith was very important to her.   She attended Protestant churches for the first 16 years of her life, when she decided to join the Catholic Faith.  She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Casper at the time of her death.

She is survived by her son Troy (Theresa) Johnson, Casper; daughters Sherri (Kent) Wilkens, Casper, Billie Jo Johnson-Ondriezek & Dave Ondriezek, Alcova; brother Les (Carol Ann) Wilkerson, Wichita, KS; sisters Virginia (Clinton) Shade, Colorado Springs, CO and Monta (Dick) Ohrman, Grand Junction, CO; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two special friends Audeen Whitten and Helen Rosty.

She was preceded in death by her husband George, and sister Bonita Peterson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carol can be made to the Casper Alzheimer Chapter and the Casper Humane Society.

Cremation has taken place.  Disposition of the cremains will be held later.
