Obituaries: Rivett, Goudie, Michenzi

CASPER, Wyo. –

Shawn Michael Rivett of Casper, WY passed away unexpectedly on March 16th, 2020. He was 43 years old. Shawn is survived by his parents Dennis and Sherry Rivett, as well as his younger brother and sister in law, Shane and Mikla Rivett.

Shawn was born on February 23rd, 1977 in Kennewick, WA. In 1980, Shawn welcomed his loving brother and best friend, Shane, into the world with open arms and a huge smile. The family moved to Casper, WY in 1981, where they still reside today.

Shawn graduated from Natrona County High School in 1995 and went on to pursue his passion for photography and design by opening Shawn Rivett Design Studio and The Haven Art Gallery in downtown Casper.

Shawn quickly became widely known for his large format photography and unique designs that captured the beauty and toughness of Wyoming. Shawn is best known for creating the world’s largest infused antler sculpture, and is recognized worldwide for his design of the Wyoming tiny house for HGTV and the antler sculpture he created for the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center at the University of Wyoming.

Through these creations and many others, Shawn’s legacy will live on for future generations to relish.

Shawn had an extraordinary hunger to experience life that took him to every corner of the world. His passion for fishing took him to Alaska and to the Amazon River, where he made some of his fondest and most cherished memories with his fishing companions. Shawn also traveled to India, where he was able to photograph many wonderful sights and share his amazing vision with the locals.

Shawn shared his love of history by hunting fossils with beloved friends and creating many large format prints that hang on walls locally and worldwide to this day. Shawn was an extremely caring and generous person, and he donated to numerous charities in the Casper area over the years.

Shawn is loved by many and will be missed dearly. His legacy will be carried on through his many creations and he will never be forgotten.

Cremation has taken place and a service will be planned for a later date.

Beverly Ann Goudie

Beverly Ann Goudie, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on March 16, 2020 in Casper, Wyoming. 

Beverly was born on December 9, 1936 to Herschel Payne and Louise (Thompson)Payne, in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Beverly met the love of her life, Richard at the local skating rink in Iowa.  They were soon married and had four boys: Devin, Mury, Derek and Todd.  In 1976 Beverly and Richard moved the kids to Loveland, Colorado.  Where she loved to camp, hike and spend time with her children.  Over the next twenty years, the family had several stops including Kansas and Las Vegas before settling down in Casper, Wyoming.        

Beverly loved lavender, peach tea, reading books, yard sales and games. 

Beverly was always there for everyone.  She prayed for us, laughed with us and loved us all unconditionally.  She touched us all and showed us what it meant be kind, patient and to love unconditionally.  She amazed us all with her compassion and selflessness.   She will be missed dearly. 

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Richard, son Todd and sister and brothers.

She is survived by her sister Pam, sons, Devin, Mury and Derek. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Theodore Matthew “Ted” Michenzi

Theodore Matthew “Ted” Michenzi, 63, of Casper, Wyo., passed away on March 17, 2020, at 11:30 p.m.

He was born to parents Margaret L. and Alfred A. Michenzi on Sept. 10, 1956, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania.

He graduated from Hampton High School in 1974. He went on to study drafting at Robert Morris College, and respiratory therapy at Allegheny Community College, where he graduated with his RRT.

Theodore (Ted) worked as a respiratory therapist for nearly 30 years, eventually retiring from the Wyoming Medical Center in 2019.

Ted loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson Logun. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, telling stories and making others laugh.

He was a history buff, particularly on WWII. Ted was also an active Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts in Logun’s troop.

Theodore (Ted) met Carol Michenzi in 1986. They were married on May 2, 1987 in Green River, Wyo. Together they raised one child, Anna Elizabeth Michenzi, 30, of Casper, Wyo.

Theodore (Ted) is survived by his wife of almost 33 years, Carol, daughter Anna Michenzi, grandson Logun Michenzi, mother Margaret Michenzi, and brothers David Michenzi, Mark (Barbara) Michenzi, and Matthew Michenzi.
