Delores “Dee” Cleo Knerl: 1930 – 2023

Delores “Dee” Cleo Knerl age 92 passed away on May 17 2023 at home quietly in her sleep.

Dee was born on her parents farm outside Sargent, Nebraska to Ted and Verna Pierce. She had many happy memories growing up on the farm. Her family eventually moved to Torrington, Wyoming where she attended Torrington High School, “THS”.

At THS Dee was a majorette and worked at the drugstore while attending High school. Dee graduated high school in 1947.

Dee married Don Trueblood soon after graduating from high school. They had a son, Mike Trueblood.

They divorced  2 years later.

Dee then married Don Knerl and was happily married to him for 63 years, till his passing in 2015. They had two sons, Charles Knerl and Tom Knerl.

Dee worked at Natrona County Memorial Hospital as a ward clerk on the 5th floor. While working as a clerk she went back to Casper College to get her degree as a LPN. After graduating, she went back to the hospital and worked as a LPN/Phlebotomist till she retired in 1988.

Dee then worked at Dr. Louis Roussalis’ office till 1994, and then part time for Wyoming Health Fair till 2015 when she fully retired.

Dee, loved to bake, crochet, and enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband Don Knerl.

She is survived by her children, Mike Trueblood, and Tom Knerl; her grandchildren, Shane Knerl and Shannon “Knerl” Kerr; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Knerl, Eloise Knerl, James Kerr, Hannah Kerr, Charles Kerr.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Verna Pierce; Sister Eula “Pierce” Smith; husband Don Knerl; and son Charles Knerl

Funeral services will be held at Bustards and Jacoby Funeral Home on May 24, at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens, 7430 W. Yellowstone Hwy. Casper Wyoming.

Bustards and Jacoby Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.

Our family would like to thank Enhabit Home and health Hospice; specifically Holly, Payton, and Trish for helping our family through these difficult times. They have been a true blessing to our family.
