Bob Barker, the host of television game shows like “Truth or Consequences” and “The Price Is Right,” has died at the age of 99, the Associated Press reports.

“I am so proud of the trailblazing work Barker and I did together to expose the cruelty to animals in the entertainment industry and including working to improve the plight of abused and exploited animals in the United States and internationally,” Barker’s longtime friend and caretaker Nancy Burnet wrote in a statement.

Barker hosted “Truth or Consequences” for 18 years — including several years in a syndicated version. Meanwhile, he also hosted a resurrected version of “The Price Is Right” beginning in 1972. While heading the latter, Barker became a household name and an icon of game show TV.

Barker ultimately taped more than 5,000 episodes in his career.
