It started with an idea: What if we allowed the people of the Oil City to vote on who they believe to be the best of the best in their chosen profession? What if we created a readers’ choice award for Casper’s best fill-in-the-blank? What if we let the community vote and decide on their favorite cup of coffee or their favorite piece of pizza, or their favorite tattoo artist?
In May, we launched Oil City’s Best: Readers’ Choice 2023, and the results were incredible.
After nominations were made, voting began in July and, over the course of a month, more than 151,000 votes were cast over hundreds of categories.
The people have spoken. The votes have been cast, tasked and tallied. The winners have been chosen and, on Aug. 19, the Oil City’s Best: Readers’ Choice 2023 award winners will be announced to the community at the 5150′ Festival, happening at David Street Station.
From 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., David Street Station is presenting a festival unlike any other. Named after Casper’s elevation, the 5150′ Festival is a celebration of all things local, making it the perfect place to announce the best of the best of the Oil City.
The 5150′ Festival, presented by Visit Casper and 5150′ Local and in partnership with True Companies and Bluepeak, is an all-day community party taking place right in the heart of downtown Casper — David Street Station.
The day will feature a wide array of local vendors, food trucks, drinks, child and family activities and more. It will also feature a variety of local and national musical acts, including a Band Named Sue, Gabriel the Bull, CW & Twenty Hands High and headlining act Craig Campbell.
Per the David Street Station website, “Campbell has seen much success over the years with several hit singles such as ‘Family Man,’ ‘Outta My Head,’ ‘Fish,’ and ‘Keep Them Kisses Comin’,’ all of which have made it on the Billboard charts and garnered millions of on-demand streams.”
Campbell has played at nationally televised NFL games, the TODAY Show, CMA Fest and the Grand Ole Opry. Campbell, along with the other incredibly talented musical acts, will be sure to pack David Street Station on Aug. 19, which makes for the ideal opportunity to announce who, in fact, is the Oil City’s Best.
We’ve got all the winners, from “Best Book Store” to “Best Coffee Shop,” “Best Doctor” to “Best Restaurant,” and so much more. And we’ll be announcing all of the winners throughout the day.
