Douglas Motorsports Park was founded back in the 1980’s and was a drag racers “hot spot” for multiple NHRA drag racing events that brought in racers from all over the country to compete with some of the fastest drag racers we have all come to know and love. Back in this era, Douglas, Wyoming was the only drag strip we had in Wyoming and was shut down back in 2015. Since then, drag racers in the state have had to travel many hours to the nearest track to enjoy this ever-growing sport.

This summer, Central Wyoming Motorsports was granted a handful of permits by the city council, mayor, and the Converse County Commissioners to rent the old, very well known drag strip. Each event that has been hosted this summer has been bigger and better than the last.

September 26th will be the fourth, final race that will be held this year by Central Wyoming Motorsports, and it is going to be the biggest one yet! There will be five different food vendors in case anyone gets hungry and the PSCA merchandise trailer will be on site with apparel for purchase. CWM has been working with local businesses in Casper and Douglas and were able to put together backpacks full of goodies for the first 100 kids to come through the gate.

Anyone who knows entertainment in the racing business should know the name Wes Messick. He has a 1961 Ford Econoline Wheel Stander that he calls “The Freak Rod”. He will be in Douglas at the track putting on a show for everyone and also be available with his GIANT Snap-On wagon giving kids rides.

Have you heard about the most popular show on television about street racing called “Street Outlaws”? Well, if you have, you will recognize the name Kamikaze Chris. He is part of the 405 Street Outlaws and he will be at the track to meet everyone and sign autographs. Along-side Kamikaze Chris you will be sure to see some of your own Wyoming Street Outlaws attending this last event on September 26 and battling each other for the huge payouts for each shootout class!

Bring your lawn chairs, camping chairs, umbrellas and the whole family out for a day of fast cars and tons of entertainment! There is a lot of money at stake, so the fastest cars from Wyoming and surrounding states are bound to show up and do what it takes to win the money!
