CASPER, Wyo. — Jody Shields, Executive Director of the Wyoming Nonprofit Network, is feeling the excitement of WyoGives 2021. “At the time this article goes to print,” Shields said, “we have over 180 registered nonprofits participating. This number already exceeds last year’s figure, and we expect it to increase by the registration deadline. We are super excited for these organizations and what that means for the overall dollars raised in this 24-hour day of giving”
The mission of WyoGives is to raise awareness for Wyoming’s nonprofits and provide many opportunities for participating organizations to build an effective fundraising campaign. “The incentives are real,” Shields said. “From matching gifts to Peer-to-Peer Fundraising and extra funds raised through contest prizes throughout the day, money raised for 24 hours goes directly to the nonprofits.”
Last year, many organizations had to cancel major fundraising events due to the pandemic. WyoGives came at an opportune time and allowed nonprofits to continue those fundraising efforts. “This year,” Shields said, “circumstances are a little different, but we are still not back to being completely normal. Our goal with WyoGives is to increase donor awareness and participation, and to inspire those who have never given before to find a cause and donate.”

This year, many registered organizations are setting goals for their own matches, which in the end means more dollars raised for that nonprofit. “Without the generosity and the incredible people of Wyoming,” Shields said, “our nonprofits would not be able to carry out their missions and contribute to their community every day.”
When asked what Shields sees for the future of WyoGives, she was able to sum it up: “A Wyoming day of celebration and generosity that connects all of us across the state!!”
