Bringing the Kentucky Derby to you at the Derby Club

CASPER, Wyo. — In an all-day event, the Derby Club is hosting the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 7. The traditional horse race is held annually in Louisville, Kentucky, and 307 Horse Racing has spared nothing to bring the fun, the experience, the betting, and even the food right to your doorstep.

“The Derby post time is at 4:45 p.m., but we have excitement all day long with drawings, giveaways, and a derby hat contest. This is the place to be in Casper and where the fun happens. We open at 10 a.m. and we want everyone to come and place their bet and have a great time,” says Byron Axlund, the manager of the location.

Come watch and bet on all the live simulcast races. It is especially fun to watch and bet on the Kentucky Derby as well as play our new gaming machines. “It is going to be the best place in Casper to be a part of one most exciting sports in the world. “ Axlund says.

The restaurant will be open and there will be a special menu, not to mention a buffet, for those that attend.

Their full restaurant, which is run by head chef Matt Grosvenor, will feature traditional Kentucky Derby food. He has created a special menu that will include things like Kentucky hot brown (a little sourdough smoked turkey), crab and tassel ham hush puppies, and Benedictine dip. “All of these being at the actual event in Kentucky, we’ll try to replicate them as much as we can up here,” Grosvenor says.

The bar will also be working to make the experience feel authentic. According to Alex Lopez, they will be serving a traditional mint julep that works with their redneck Riviera bourbon, Kentucky lemonade, and a specialty called a Black-Eyed Susan.

It will be the perfect mix of betting, gaming, drinking, eating, and relaxing. The Derby Club is excited to host this event because, as Grosvenor says, “our roots come from horse racing and so that feeds hand in hand.”

On top of the great atmosphere, the club will also be doing giveaways and a hat competition. Whoever wins first place wins a $75 free play, while second place wins a $50 free play and third place wins a $25 free play.

The Derby Club, which opened in March, is a new gaming parlor for historic horse racing games that also functions as a restaurant, bar, liquor store, and entertainment hub. Join them at 739 N. Center St. to get your fill of the Kentucky Derby. This event is the first race of the Triple Crown, and the Derby Club will be showing all of them.

Not in Casper this weekend? Don’t worry the location in Sheridan and Gillette are also having big parties, find out more on their website.
