Winners announced in Casper Start-Up Challenge

Some of Casper’s brightest entrepreneurs are waking up to a new future this morning.

The annual UW Casper Start-Up Challenge held its pitch challenge last night at The Lyric, where four new business pitched their ideas in front of several judges.

Winning first place was Matt Kull with Simple Injection.

Matt Kull, an embedded IOT chemical pump controller for use in the oil and gas industry. This controller is capable of being remotely controlled via a simple to use smartphone app, provides advanced control and monitoring of the pump and stores historical injection data in the cloud.

The people’s choice award went to Barnwood Bros., who specialize in repurposed and reclaimed wood. According to their pitch, “we provide a wide array of custom wood products. Whether you’re looking for reclaimed barnwood doors or handcrafted wooden furniture, we have something for you.”

Tied for second place were Barnwood Bros. and Wyoming Gear Buildings, which was established by Cameron Siplon and produces outdoor gear that Siplon says performs without issue, exceed expectations, and be configurable.

The competition is run by the University of Wyoming’s Wyoming Technology Business Center to help foster new, diverse businesses in Wyoming.
