CASPER, Wyo. – A Cheyenne boy who was injured while saving his sister from an attacking dog is receiving accolades around the country, including one from Captain America himself.

Actor Chris Evans, who plays the superhero in movies, sent a video to Bridger Walker, an avid Avengers superfan.

“Pal, you’re a hero,” Evans said. “What you did is so brave, so selfless, your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother.” Evans said he would be sending Bridger an authentic Captain America shield for his bravery.

Bridger, 6, made national news this week after Newsweek reported that he saved his 4-year-old sister from an attacking German Shepard mix.

Bridger was seriously wounded as the dog mauled his face, but was able to take his sister to safety and help her hide from the dog.

He required 90 stitches to his left cheek and is still recovering.

In addition to Chris Evans, actress Ann Hathaway sent love to Bridger on a social media post.

“I’m not an Avenger, but I know a superhero when I see one. I can only hope I’m half as brave in my life as you are in yours, Bridger,” wrote Hathaway. “Wishing you an easeful recovery, and many cool looking rocks.”

Hathaway’s post has attracted the attention of several Avengers cast members, including Mark Ruffalo, Tom Holland, Hugh Jackman, Zachary Levi, the Russo brothers and Robbie Amell, according to CNN.
