CASPER, Wyo — Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) has released details of a crash east of Shoshoni on July 29 that killed both the passenger and the driver. Wyoming resident. WHP was notified of the one-vehicle rollover at 1:54 p.m Wednesday.
The driver was 32-year-old Riverton resident Carmella J. Driftwood, and 30-year-old Lander resident Rikki J. Shakespeare was the passenger of the 2003 Dodge Caravan. According to WHP, they were headed east near milepost 70 on US 20-26 when the vehicle exited the right side of the roadway and then overcorrected to the left, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Both passenger and driver were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, and alcohol use is being investigated as a possible contributing factor.

These are the 59th and 60th fatalities on Wyoming’s roadways in 2020, said WHP. By this date in previous years, there had been:
