Wyoming inmate dies in Rawlins hospital; autopsy pending

CASPER, Wyo. — Wyoming inmate Gary Lee Belden, 67, died on Monday, Feb. 15 while hospitalized at the Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins, according to the Wyoming Department of Corrections.

The Wyoming Department of Corrections said that an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. Protected health information will not be released.

Belden was convicted of first degree murder in Lincoln County, Wyoming on Dec. 4, 2000, according to the department. He was sentenced to life in prison by District Court Judge John Troughton.

Belden was born June 27, 1953 in Springfield, Illinois, according to the WDOC.
