CAPSER, Wyo — A fire in the Laramie Range about six miles southwest of Esterbrook has grown to 683 acres as of mid-day Sunday, July 10, according to incident managers.
The Monday Creek Fire was first reported early Saturday, and crews made an aggressive initial attack with aerial and ground resources. Single Engine Air Tankers and helicopter resources remain on scene, and a Type III federal incident management team has been ordered.
Fire behavior is active with running and torching in the timber and understory, officials said. The bulk of fire is located on a rocky, inaccessible ridge between Buzzard Peak and Spring Hill.
Esterbrook Road (Converse County Road 5/7,) is closed from mile marker 32 to the Albany/Converse County line.
