CASPER, Wyo. — Today, March 7, or 3/07, is a day of celebration for Wyoming. In recognition of the state’s only area code, Wyoming residents are encouraged to express their state pride by celebrating what they love about the 307 life.

But first, do you know why Wyoming is the 307? The YMCA of Natrona County shared this bit of information: “In 1947, 307 was one of the original 86 area codes established by the Bell Telephone Company, and for the last 76 years, it has remained the area code in Wyoming. Since then, Wyomingites have used ‘307’ as a phrase synonymous with the state’s name and all that it represents. Happy 307 Day!”

There you have it!
