Natrona County High School (Gregory Hirst)

CASPER, Wyo. — Natrona County High School’s new enclosed, elevated walkway will be built by Casper-based Haass Construction.

The NCSD Board of Trustees approved a $695,698 contract with Haass to conduct the construction of the walkway during their Monday, Jan. 25 meeting.

The walkway will connect the main school builing with NCHS’ Mustang Athletic Community Center.

The district will use funding from their State Capital Construction Fund for the project.

Haass Construction provided the lowest of four bids received by the school district for the walkway construction project. Other bids received included:

  • Caspar Building Systems Inc., Casper, WY $732,000.00
  • Pope Construction Inc., Casper, WY $799,950.00
  • Sampson Construction Co. Inc., Cheyenne, WY $724,000.00

Since the district is using State of Wyoming Capital Construction dollars they were allocated for the project, the project has also been approved by the Wyoming School Facilities Division.

The previous NCSD Board of Trustees approved the project in Jan. 2020.

“The purpose of the raised walkway is to increase safety and security for students and staff as they move from the main building to the MACC,” the school district says. “Also, this will allow for more effective, efficient, and convenient transition of students and staff to and from the main building and the MACC.”

The walkway will be about 916 square feet.
