CASPER, Wyo. — TerraPower is preparing to announce where in Wyoming the Natrium nuclear reactor will be built.

TerraPower’s President and CEO Chris Levesque will be making the announcement during a 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 16 press conference that will be held from the Little America in Cheyenne.

The company said in a press release Monday that in addition to announcing the site where the Natrium reactor demonstration project will be built in Wyoming, Levesque will talk about how the technology “fits into the broader clean energy narrative in Wyoming and nationally and give attendees insight into what’s next as the project enters a new phase of development.”

Proponents of the new Natrium technology hail it as an advancement that could help meet energy needs in a more sustainable, environmentally friendly manner. Detractors have said that the technology as proposed for development is not really a step up from existing nuclear technology. Casper College will be exploring whether the Natrium technology will be a benefit for Wyoming during a presentation set on Tuesday, December 7.
