CASPER, Wyo. — The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline on Monday, Sept. 19 is down slightly in Wyoming compared with a week ago but is up about 14 cents in Natrona County, according to AAA data.

The statewide average cost for regular gasoline stands at $3.805 per gallon on Monday, down about a penny from a week ago, AAA reports. Meanwhile, the national average cost for a gallon of regular gasoline stands at $3.677, down from $3.716 a week ago.

Despite the approximately 14-cent increase in the past week, Natrona County’s average regular gasoline prices remain below both the statewide and national averages at $3.407 per gallon as of Monday, according to AAA. Albany County has the lowest average price of regular gasoline in the state at $3.370 per gallon.

Price tracker GasBuddy reports a lower national average price than AAA, listing the national average cost for a regular gallon of gasoline at $3.64 per gallon as of Monday. The nation’s average price is down about 3 cents from a week ago and has fallen for 14 weeks in a row, according to GasBuddy.

“With a 14th consecutive weekly decline, the national average price of gasoline has now surpassed 2018’s record decline, seeing its longest downward streak since 2015,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said in a weekly report. “While some states continue to see gas prices trend higher, the majority have continued to decline. However, this week could change the downward trend. With some issues arising in Plains and Great Lakes states as the transition to winter gasoline begins, I think we have the best potential to see the weekly trend of falling prices snapped.

“West Coast states also continue to see increases as unexpected refinery issues continue to percolate, preventing a downward move. While gasoline could nudge higher, diesel prices should continue to ease after a much-needed jump in inventories last week.”
