CASPER, Wyo. – Yellowstone National Park is announced new increased fees on Wednesday.

The additional fees will help conservation efforts, according to a release.

“Beginning today, fees for fishing and boating permits in Yellowstone National Park will increase,” said the release. “Anglers will be able to purchase fishing permits online via Recreation.gov starting today for the upcoming season in addition to in-park stores and surrounding communities beginning this spring.”

The last time fishing fees increased was in 2012, they said. The fees for boating haven’t changed since 1993, even as the number of boats on Yellowstone Lake increased by 10 percent last year. The new prices puts them inline with other national parks, according to the release.

According to YNP, compared to last year fishing fees will rise from $18 to $40 for a 3-day license, $25 to $55 for 7-day, and a season pass rises from $40 to $75.

Boating fees for non-motorized rise from $5 to $20 this year for 7-days, and will increase from $10 to $30 now for a season pass. Motorized boat fees are now $60 for the season, and $40 for a 7-day pass.
