Mandatory evacuations remain in effect for residences north of Palmer Canyon Road in Platte County west of the Laramie River to the Albany County line. Evacuations are also in place for Albany County residents from the Platte County line to Cottonwood Road. Palmer Canyon Road remains closed in the fire area in both Platte County and Albany County.
“Once a fire reaches one hundred percent containment this does not mean that the fire is out,” officals said in a written statement, Friday. “Partially and unburned vegetation remains within the fire perimeter and may continue to smolder and be consumed over time. Small flare-ups are possible, and small smoke columns may be visible in the afternoon during the heat of the day. Any remaining smokes are well interior of the fire’s perimeter and pose no threat to structures or containment lines.”
Fire crews will continue to patrol and monitor the fire to ensure containment. People in the area expect visible smoke to continue until significant precipitation occurs over the fire area.
