(UPDATE) Muddy Mountain wildfire extinguished Monday evening

(BLM-Casper Field Office)

CASPER, Wyo — Natrona County Fire District (NCFD) officials said Monday evening they have contained a fire south of Circle Drive on Muddy Mountain. Officials said it was caused by lightning from recent thunderstorms.

Crews from the Bureau of Land Management, Casper Mountain Fire, NCFD, Casper Fire-EMS, and Wyoming State Air Attack with a Type 2 helicopter worked to contain the fire which burned .3 acres before it was contained. Crews called the fire out around 6:00 pm Monday.

Much of Natrona County and surrounding counties are under a Red Flag Warning until Wednesday night. Low humidity, warm temperatures, and breezy conditions mean that fires can start easily and spread quickly.
