CASPER, Wyo — The “Clemons” wildfire burning in Sybille Canyon west of Wheatland is 60% contained as of Saturday morning, according to the Wyoming State Forestry Division, which is the incident’s commanding office. Crews are holding the perimeter of the fire, which has burned 290 acres.
Albany County Fire District #1’s BJ Clark is the incident commander, and Travis Pardue from the Wyoming State Forestry Division is the deputy incident commander. Wyoming Highway Patrol, Palmer Canyon Volunteer Firefighters and US Fish and Wildlife are also contributing resources.
1 hotshot crew, 1 Type 2 handcrew, 1 helitack, and 5 engines are on the scene, with 60 personnel total.
The fire was first discovered at about 6:00 pm Wednesday and initially led to the closure of WY 34 north of Laramie between Bosler and the Albany/Platte County line. The highway reopened on Friday.
