GILLETTE, Wyo. — No injuries were reported in an early morning oil location fire that caused extensive damage in southern Campbell County, authorities said Monday.

The fire was reported at 1 a.m. by multiple residents, and firefighters arrived to find two oil treaters and a separator fully engulfed in flames on an oil location approximately 2 miles from Highway 387 just off Cosner Road, according to Kate Eischeid, a battalion chief with the Campbell County Fire Department.

A pumper for EOG Resources responded to the site and turned off the gas, allowing fire personnel to have the blaze extinguished by 4:18 a.m., per Eischeid and Campbell County Sheriff Scott Matheny, who said that his deputies accompanied fire personnel to the scene.

No one was on site at the time the fire began and there were no injuries reported, Eischeid continued, adding that the fire caused extensive damage to the site and rendered it inoperable.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
