Vehicle fire starts wildfire north of Casper

UPDATE: Firefighters have contained the wildfire and remain on scene looking for hotspots, NCFD Firefighter Leighton Burgen said at around 9:45 a.m. Friday. The cause of the fire is under investigation. An acreage estimate was not yet available. Burgen said that further updates will be provided when those become available.

CASPER, Wyo. — A vehicle fire started a wildfire north of Casper on Friday morning, the Natrona County Fire District said at around 8:45 a.m. Friday.

The fire is in the area of Ormsby Road and BB Brooks Boulevard, NCFD said. Fire units were en route at the time of NCFD’s message shared to Facebook.

Smoke may be visible in the area.

“This is an evolving incident,” NCFD said. “We will update as more information becomes available.
