CASPER, Wyo. — Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon’s office said on Wednesday that the governor’s administration has launched a new “Wyoming Drought Resources” website.

“Wyoming has been experiencing drought conditions since 2020 and this past winter’s average snowpack did not alleviate dry soil conditions that existed entering the winter,” Gordon’s office said.

Drought.wyo.gov provides information about drought conditions in Wyoming, emergency declarations and resources for areas affected by drought.

“The site provides resources and information for specific sectors impacted by drought, including agriculture, tourism, recreation, municipalities and water utilities,” Gordon’s office said. “It also offers information on federal and state resources and assistance available to those impacted by drought.”

“Information on wildfire conditions and restrictions plus links to United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) drought disaster designations for Wyoming are also available on the website.”

Gordon said in the release: “Our goal in developing this resource is to make relevant and timely information available in a single location. This effort capitalizes on the collaborative partnerships already in place between state and federal agencies and allows us to better communicate program resources.”

The website is a cooperative effort by a state and federal drought monitoring team with representatives from Wyoming state agencies, University of Wyoming Extension, the USDA, the United States Geological Survey and the National Weather Service.
