CASPER, Wyo. — The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Wednesday, June 30 that Darrell “Pete” Petry was found deceased on June 22 by SCSO deputies and Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers.

SCSO says that Petry was found dead just days after law enforcement had executed a search warrant to search his property for evidence relating to the disappearance of Vanessa “Nessy” Orren, 62, of LaBarge, Wyoming, who was reported missing in Jan. 2017.

The multi-day search of Petry’s property began on June 19, according to SCSO. Petry reportedly left the property during the course of the execution of the warrant before he was later found deceased. The SCSO adds that an investigation into his death determined that it was “self-inflicted and there is no foul play suspected.”

“The disappearance of Vanessa ‘Nessy’ Orren is still being actively investigated by the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office,” the release adds. “The Sublette County Sheriff’s requests anyone with any information related to the disappearance of Vanessa Orren to please contact the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at 307-367-4378.”

The SCSO say they have been actively investigating Orren’s disappearance since the report was made in Jan. 2017 that she was missing. She has been entered into the NCIC (National Crime Information Center) and NamUs (National Missing and Unidentified Persons System) as a missing person.
