CASPER, Wyo. — Committees charged with reviewing and advising on proposed changes to academic programs at the University of Wyoming have submitted final reports, the university announced Monday.

UW announced this summer it was pursuing a transformation of its academic programs to “adjust to economic shifts and respond to a changing higher-education landscape.”

This would have included consolidating, moving, or eliminating some programs with low enrollment with the aim of saving about $13 million in annual expenditures.

After stakeholder input, UW announced last month that the initial proposal to discontinue some departments has been dropped, and other modifications were made.

Provost and Executive Vice President Kevin Carman is considering the committee reports, along with feedback from internal and external stakeholders, as he prepares a final recommendation to President Ed Seidel this week. Seidel is scheduled to present a final proposal to the UW Board of Trustees at its November 17-19 meeting.
