CASPER, Wyo. — Bobbi Barrasso, wife of Sen. John Barrasso, has died after battling cancer. The information was shared by Sen. Barrasso’s office on Thursday morning.

According to the release, Bobbi died after a two-year battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer. 

Wyoming Rep. Harriet Hageman issued a statement on Thursday morning, saying, “Bobbi was always warm to everyone, welcoming them with a big smile and a kind word. She served our state both in her career and alongside her husband, Senator Barrasso. My prayers are with Bobbi’s entire family.”

According to Meridian, Bobbi was born in Thermopolis and graduated from the University of Wyoming with degrees in speech pathology and law. 

Bobbi worked to increase awareness of Wyoming’s high suicide rate, and in 2015 received the National Alliance on Mental Illness Wyoming Champion for Suicide Prevention for her work. She was also involved with the State Historic Preservation Office through its Preserve Wyoming program.

She was a breast cancer survivor before marrying John Barrasso in 2008. In early 2022, she underwent treatment for surgical removal of an intracranial lesion in Colorado. “Bobbi is doing well and we are both very thankful,” John Barrasso said at the time.

U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) released the following statement regarding his wife Bobbi, who passed away in Casper after a two-year battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer.  

“After a courageous battle with cancer, Bobbi is now at peace and at home with the Lord. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Bobbi was a leader, fierce advocate for Wyoming, and friend to everyone she met. We miss her dearly. On behalf of our entire family, we thank everyone for your prayers and continued support as we remember her and grieve together.”
