CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper Police Department said on Thursday that Lieutenant Ryan Dabney has graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy, a professional study course geared toward law enforcement leadership.

Dabney participated in the graduation ceremony in Quantico, Virginia on Thursday, becoming the fourth member of the Casper Police Department to have completed the FBI National Academy, according to the Casper PD. The others are Chief Keith McPheeters, Deputy Chief Shane Chaney and Lieutenant Jeremy Tremel.

The FBI National Academy is a ten-week program that “provides coursework in intelligence theory, terrorism and terrorist mindsets, management science, law, behavioral science, law enforcement communication, and forensic science,” according to the Casper PD. The course aims to help “improve the administration of justice in police departments and agencies at home and abroad and to raise law enforcement standards, knowledge, and cooperation worldwide.”

In order to participate in the academy, law enforcement personnel must be nominated by agency heads.
