CASPER, Wyo. — As temperatures trend warmer this week, the National Weather Service in Cheyenne said on Monday that southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska panhandle will see fire weather concerns increase.

Strong winds are expected on Monday through 11 am with 60 mph gusts possible on I-80 near Arlington and Elk Mountain and on I-25 in the Bordeux, Buford and Pumpkin Vine areas.

The NWS in Cheyenne says that gusty winds could return again Monday night and into Tuesday.

Temperatures are expected to climb into the 40-60 degree range by mid-week, leading to the increased fire weather concerns.

“Mountain snow is possible again beginning Thursday through the weekend, but for all other areas dry conditions will persist,” the NWS in Cheyenne says.
